Cultural
programs at St Nektarios are designed to teach
both adults and children about Greek culture
and customs. Our mission is to provide our parishioners
the opportunity to learn, understand, and participate
in our culture and heritage. We offer the following
programs on a regular basis.
Adult Greek Classes
Beginning Modern Greek classes for adults meet
every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Upon
completion of the classes, students should be
able to read, write and comprehend basic Greek.
For more information please contact Yorgos Anagnostopoulos
or the church office.
Greek School
Our Greek School classes are available for children
age five and up. Five-year-olds begin with a
Kindergarten class, then move into classes divided
by level (we currently have three levels). Students
older than five are assigned a level based on
their knowledge of the Greek language. Classes
are held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:15pm
to 6:00pm. Students learn to read, write, and
comprehend modern conversational Greek through
traditional classroom work, as well as videos,
tapes, and DVDs. For more information please
contact Ritsa Neary or the church office.
Play School
Our Play School is staffed by St. Nektarios
volunteers, and meets every Tuesday at 10:00am.
Toddlers age two-to-four enjoy a full hour of
games, music and sing along songs. For more
information please contact Ritsa Neary or the
church office.
Greek Dance Troupes
Our Dance Troupes consists of two groups: 7th
through 9th graders, and 10th through 12th graders.
Lessons and practice are held once a week (times
to be announced). Interested in teaching? We
would love to have you with us. For more information
please contact Lea Tsahakis or the church office. |
