Missions & Philanthropy Ministry

Our Missions Ministry encompasses all our efforts to reach beyond our parish community and help others in the Charlotte area, as well as nationally and internationally.

Parish volunteers work together to assist these charitable efforts and organizations:

National and International Organizations/Mission Trip Opportunities

 
IOCC (Missy Davis) - assist in local annual Pan-Orthodox event; participate on domestic summer home building team.

Kenya-Child of God (Tim Klund) - assist with local fundraising activity for feeding and tuition assistance program; participate on mission team to Kenya.

OCMC (Tim Klund) - participate on international mission teams (teaching, youth, construction, healthcare).

Project Mexico (Missy Davis) - participate on bi-annual home building team in Tijuana, Mexico.

Samaritans Feet (Phyllis Gianakopoulos) - participate in local shoe drive and sorting work day at charity headquarters in Charlotte; participate on domestic or international mission team.

Local Organizations/Opportunities


Crop Hunger Walk
(Kate Caltis) - participate in and donate to the annual uptown walk in October.

Friendship Trays (Irene Liapis) - deliver meals to local families in need, once a month driving commitment.

Medical Mission Ministry (Teresa Jacob) - participate in community health fair; attend educational sessions; participate in mission trips.

MOM Free Dental Clinic (Kate Caltis) - volunteer at local event in Charlotte (non-dental personnel needed).

Prison Ministry (Harry Lainis or John Frangoulis) - lead Bible study with inmates at local jail(s).

Second Harvest (Tim Klund) - pick up donated food items and deliver to Matthews Help center (once a week).

Child of God Academy - Kenya

The Child of God Academy is working to provide a brighter future by providing education, as well as food and clean water, for the children it serves.  It is a Kenyan non-traditional school partially funded by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Kenya and the St. Nektarios Church community.
